Photo Series: Fruitful Moments

Summer is officially here. With that in mind, I wanted to focus on something more bright and colorful this month. I chose to capture some delicious fruits, mainly fresh peaches and grapes. These two fruits happen to be my favorite fruits, so it was a lot of fun getting these images. I hope you enjoy!

Peachy Groupings

Let's start with the peaches! My partner and I got the chance to make the day out of peach picking, and it was a blast! We went to Wind Drift Orchards in Harrah, OK and they did not disappoint.

One of the first things they told us, when they guided us to the peach trees, was that we could eat as many peaches as we wanted while we picked. Becca and I shared a look, and then we shared a smile. Let's just say that during this part of the photo series, I had my camera in one hand, and a fresh peach in the other :)

Delectable

Now these peaches are no joke. With every bite I took, I had juices flow down my face and onto my shirt. It reminded me of more simpler times during childhood where all that mattered was how good a fruit/food was, no matter how messy I got. These peaches not only brought back those memories, but also that childhood spark that I used to capture these fruits in the best light possible.

Sunny

This is the only photo that is not a fruit. That is because this flower was just simply awesome and beautiful where it was, I had no choice but to capture an image of it. So enjoy a random flower picture!

The Haul

Last little bit about the orchard, here is the haul. We just got the small box because we definitely want to come back before the season ends to get another fresh batch.

On our walk back, we enjoyed sitting at the little community area Wind Drift had for its guests. They gave us free homemade peach ice cream (words can not describe how heavenly this was after a hot day of peach picking) and I also had some fresh peach tea. It was a great day to be a peach lover.

Vineyard

The last half of the photo series focuses on grapes, specifically wine grapes. My good friends over at Nellis Vineyards let me walk on their property and capture these images. Many thanks go out to them for this opportunity.

Through The Vine

I took a little bit more of a creative approach here. I wanted to experiment with depth of field, while having the subject remain in the distance. These grapes were an excellent subject, especially at the time of day these images were taken.

Turning

I got lucky enough to catch some grapes turning color. These images were taken early in the grapes lifespan. I wanted to focus on the green as we are going into early summer where everything is bright and fresh. Whereas when I captured the peaches, they were ripe and ready to be picked. I wanted to show contrast with something that is beginning that process.

Cluster Party

Overall, I am very pleased with this photo series. It was a great time as I made events out of capturing these images. This photo series was a great study of light during harsh lighting conditions, and it has made me feel more confident with my ability to adapt during those times.
